Handholding Startups through Funding and Showcase Events at DBU

Desh Bhagat University’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development, in collaboration with Startup Punjab, organized an event aimed at guiding startups through funding opportunities and showcasing their innovative ideas.

 

Dr. Navneet Kaur Sandhu commenced the event, emphasizing the significance of fostering entrepreneurship among students. The event served as a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to gain insights into the startup ecosystem, access funding opportunities, and showcase their innovative solutions, furthering the mission of promoting entrepreneurship in Punjab.

 

Dr.Saurabh Trivedi, Special Guest and Resource Person, emphasized the essence of startups, highlighting the importance of aligning one’s passion, market demand, and industry solutions. He stressed the role of creative thinking and the support available through incubation centres.

 

Chief Guest Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, along with Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, shared their vision of promoting innovative startups, citing examples such as home care nursing services, popular abroad, as a potential avenue for entrepreneurship in Punjab.

 

Shyam Sunder, Joint Manager at Startup Punjab, provided insights into funding opportunities and enhanced investor readiness, outlining the registration process and incentives available for startups.

 

Jagdish Singh, GM Industry Mandi Gobindgarh, shed light on the incentives provided by Startup Punjab and the State Government, emphasizing the importance of proper registration for availing benefits.

 

Startup Showcases:

 

During the audio-visual startup session, various innovative ideas were presented, including initiatives by students of DBU and solutions addressing societal challenges. Kafil Qureshi from D.Buzz shared how students of DBU started their initiative in MJK City Centre. Notable presentations included Sakir’s idea of reducing food wastage through the ‘Foodify’ mobile app. Ravinder Dey, Shalini Saini, and Kuldeep Singh also shared their presentations.

 

Convener of the event was Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President, Coordinator Dr. Surjeet Kaur Patheja Director of Performing Arts and Media. Dr. Arashdeep Singh, HOD of Mechanical Engineering, extended gratitude to all participants, and the stage was effectively managed by Navninder Kaur.
