Bibi Jagir Kaur, President, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees and Chancellor of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib today released the book ‘Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Jeevan, Bani and Martyrdom’ published by the University.
On the occasion, Bibi Jagir Kaur lauded the research work of the University and said that the Sikh Panth has high expectations from the University. Bibi ji emphasised on the need of comparative study and research in the field of Religious Studies. She informed that the new courses will be introduced in the University, which will produce Sikh preachers who can spread the message of Guru Sahiban in the entire world. For this, the Studies will be done in the medium of five languages I.e. Punjabi, Hindi, English, French and Spanish. World class facilities and free accommodation will be provided to such students She also added that the University stands tall in serving the cause of education and Sikhism. While releasing the book she said that it is our duty to convey the message of Guru Sahibs in the world, and keeping this in view, a research chair dedicated to Sri Guru Teg Bahadur has been set up at the University.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Prit Pal Singh expressed his gratitude to Bibi Jagir Kaur for her patronage and support. Dr. Singh added that the University is dedicatedly working to follow the guidelines set by the SGPC. He said that the book is dedicated to the 400th parkash purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. He informed that the book edited by Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Head of the Department of Religious Studies of the University comprises of the research papers of eminent sikh scholars
During the Book Release Ceremony, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs of the University, Dr. Sukhveer Singh, P.A. to President, SGPC, S. Satwinder Singh Tohra, Member Committee, S. Jagdeep Singh Cheema, S. Surjit Singh Ablowal, S. Avtar Singh Ria, S. Gurdeep Singh, Manager, Er. Sukhminder Singh, Dr. Jaskaran Singh Dhillon, Dean Research, Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Dean Students Welfare of the University and Heads of various Departments were also present.
