45 FIRS REGISTERED DURING LAST 24 HOURS IN THE DISTRICT UNDER SEC 188 IPC, DISASTER MANAGEMENT ACT AND EPIDEMIC DISEASES ACT

Patiala, April 21:

As Covid-19 cases see an exponential rise in the state, Patiala district has come down heavily on violators of the COVID related norms and guidelines issued by the government.

Giving details of the action taken during the very first day of the government’s fresh guidelines, SSP Patiala, Vikram Jeet Duggal observed, “During the last 24 hours, we have registered as many as 45 FIRs against such violators under various sections of law, including Sec 188 IPC, Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemic diseases Act, 1897, even as our officers keep on educating the public to follow the guidelines. We are not going to spare anyone spreading the rumour on Covid and spreading the virus in the community.”

Apart from registering FIRs, Patiala police have ensured that the mask related violators are subjected to the RT-PCR testing and vaccination. “Over 40,000 such violators have been tested for COVID, out of which around 80 persons were tested positive. About 3500 individuals were vaccinated”, said the SSP.

As the night curfew was imposed from 08:00 pm to 05:00 am, special check posts and night patrolling was carried out to ensure strict enforcement of night curfew. Special checking with regard to any violations related to public gatherings at Hotels / Restaurants / Shopping Malls / Marriage Palaces etc. was conducted all across the district.

SSP appealed to the local public by seeking cooperation to enforce COVID related norms in the district to contain the further spread of pandemic.
