Free Physiotherapy Camp by SGPC’s World University

The Department of Physiotherapy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib, which is under the management of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has organized a free physiotherapy camp at village Nandpur Kaloor in the Fatehgarh Sahib District. The camp was dedicated to the first Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The camp was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Prit Pal Singh.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Prit Pal Singh said that joint pains can be cured through physiotherapy without any medicine. He informed that since 2014, the University has been providing daily free physiotherapy OPD at the University itself in which approximately 80 to 100 patients get their treatment on daily basis. While appreciating the efforts of Dr. Pankaj Preet Singh, head of the department and Dr. Supreet Kaur, Assistant Professor of the Department and applauding their contribution to the society, the Vice Chancellor said that such teachers are the true torch bearers for our young generation, and that he is proud that he can boost of many such teachers serving the University at present. He said that the Department of Physiotherapy is providing state-of-the-art facilities and the students are given hands-on knowledge through practical training, as a result of which the student are placed well and currently serving many established institutions in the country and abroad as well. He said that he is confident that in future students will also secure good jobs.

Dr. Singh shows his delight over the services provided by the University students to about 200 patients in the camp set up by the physiotherapy department at village Nandpur Kalaur, the village which is bestowed with the blessings of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He informed that this village is also the birthplace of Bhai Ditt Singh Ji Giani, the leader of Singh Sabha movement, father of journalism and eminent Sikh scholar who had made invaluable contribution in the service of the Panth.

Dr. Singh appreciated Ms. Mohinder Kaur, Sarpanch of Nandpur Kalaur and Ms. Kulwinder Kaur, Retd. teacher of Government Senior Secondary School, Nandpur Kalaur, for organising this Camp. He said that such social welfare camps should be set up in every village. Ms. Mridula Puri, Principal, Government Senior Secondary School was also present on the occasion.
