“The technology in today’s era is changing with every passing day and we must keep ourselves in tune with these latest trends for it is only the technological advancements in every sector which would herald a new revolution and it is in this context that such novel initiatives as Pumpkart and their creator K.S. Bhatia need to be encouraged.” This was disclosed by the Local Government, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu here today at PCA stadium during the launch of a mobile e-store by Pumpkart-a one stop solution for water pumps and appliances- in the form of a van. The van would move out in the rural and urban areas with the aim to educate and aware farmers, households and other consumers to select correct products. The van was flagged off by Mr. Sidhu and the Brand Ambassador of Pumpkart & former Captain of Indian Cricket Team Mr. Kapil Dev.

Lauding the unique venture of Pumpkart, Mr. Sidhu said that such ventures are bound to act as game changers in providing services to the people at their very door steps. Divulging more on the technological aspect, Mr. Sidhu said that the Local Government Department, Punjab, also is streamlining its working to bring it in tune with the up to date innovations in technology field and has forged partnership with Punjab Remote Sensing Centre at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. Citing an example in this regard, the minister said that recently the department conducted the air surveillance to ascertain the actual position regarding illegal constructions and found more than 4 lakh houses whereas earlier the number was estimated to be 90000. He also said that as per the ideology of ‘Captain Sarkaar Lokan De Dwaar’ the Local Government Department is implementing the concept of e-Governance to provide every kind of service to the people at their doorstep in a hassle free manner.

On the occasion, Mr. Kapil Dev said that the generation next is more techno-savvy and can deliver the goods; what they need is constant support and encouragement regarding such start-ups. On the occasion the creator of ‘PUMPKART’ and Chairman CII Punjab Council Mr. K.S. Bhatia, Regional Head FICCI Mr. G.B. Singh, Mr. Vivek Attray and other dignitaries were also present.
