World University Organised a seminar dedicated to Mata Gujri Ji and Sahibzada’s

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organised a one day national seminar dedicated to the martyrdom of Mata Gujri Ji and Sahibzada. Presiding the seminar the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Prit Pal Singh said that the propagation of Sikh history and Gurmat Sidhant is one of the foremost responsibility of the University. He said that the martyrdom of Sahibzada and Mata Gujri ji is an unprecedented martydom in the history of the world, from which lessons of self-respect, religious freedom and protection of human rights could be learned. He said that it is important to from the martyrdom of Sahibzada as how to stay committed to relogion

The keynote speaker of the seminar, Bhai Harpal Singh, Head Granthi, Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, deliberate on the martyrdom of Sahibzada and Mata Gujri Ji. He said that Guru Sahib’s derision to leave Sri Anandpur Sahib while believing the oaths of Mughals and Hill Chiefs, was an example of respect for the faith of in others as per the Gurmat tradition. He said that even knowing that the oaths were false, Guru Sahib abandoned Sri Anandpur Sahib for the sake of ideals. Dr. Sikandar Singh, In-charge, Punjabi Department, who was the special speaker, gave an account of the oral, traditional, academic and temporal political discourses related to the martyrdom of Sirhind.

The function was inaugurated by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, with a welcome address to the scholarly speakers and the guests., Dr. Billing said that through such seminars can motivate the young generation to stay connected with our heritage. On this occasion the ‘Gur Darshan, issue of the Journal of Religion and Sikh Studies published by the University was dedicated to the Sangat. The vote of thanks was moved by Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Head, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Department of Religious Studies. The seminar was also attended by Dean Research, Dr. R.K. Sharma, Dean Students’ Welfare, Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Dean Alumni, Dr. Birbikaram Singh, Dean Faculty of Religious Studies, Dr. Tejbir Singh, Head, In-charge and staff members of various departments.
