World University organises a seminar on “Current Status of Puadhi Dialect”

The Punjabi Department of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organised a seminar on “The Current Status of Paudhi Dialect” on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day. The keynote speaker in this discussion was the renowned punjabi writer Dr. Manmohan Singh Dao. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Prit Pal Singh while presiding over the seminar, presented his views on the importance and necessity of mother tongue in the field of education. Discussing the present state of the Punjabi language, he appraised its dilapidated state in Punjab and its growing prestige abroad.

Explaining the importance of regional dialect, Dr. Manmohan Singh Dao said that Punjabis have not given due place to their dialects. He deliberated on the Paudhi writers and the literary and academic works related to Puadhi dialect.

Dean Academic Affairs Dr. S.S. Billing thanked the guests and the audience, and encouraged the department to conduct research on Puadhi dialect. Dr. Sikandar Singh, Head of the Department welcomed the dignitaries.
