Punjab State Open University, Patiala Organised a Webinar on the theme “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Vision of Social Inclusion”

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala organised a webinar dedicated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birthday anniversary on the theme of “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Vision of Social Inclusion”. On this occasion, Dr. G.S. Batra, Dean Academic Affairs, Punjab State Open University, welcomed Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the Open University and Dr. Daljit Singh, Head, Department of History, Punjabi University, Patiala, and the audience. Dr. Batra said that this webinar has been organized under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor. After that Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Assistant Professor, School of Social Sciences introduced the theme of the webinar.

Prof. Karamjeet Singh, the Vice Chancellor of the University congratulated the faculty for organizing this webinar. He said that such initiatives are essential to motivate the youth to walk on the footsteps of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar so that we can create a better society by eliminating social discrimination. He also said that Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University is providing free education to the economically weaker section and it is a concrete attempt by the University as an effort to create the society which Dr. Ambedkar dreamed off.

On this occasion, Dr. Daljit Singh elaborated upon Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s life, philosophy and his contribution to the society. He said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar devoted his entire life to the upliftment of the downtrodden and played a pivotal role in building a new India based on social equality and inspiring the people to fight against inequality and oppression. He encouraged everyone to take inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s ideology and to adopt it in their lives.

At the end of the webinar, Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu, Registrar, Punjab State Open University thanked all the distinguished guests, faculty members and the participants. Dr. Sandhu hoped that more such webinars would be organized by the University in the future as well. He also thanked Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University for making this webinar a success. Ms. Parampreet Kaur, Assistant Professor moderated the event and Dr. Pinky Sra and Dr. Shefali Bedi took charge as the coordinators of this webinar.
