Punjab State Open University Signs MOU with IDF for Student Leadership Programme
Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala signed an MOU with IDF (Indian Development Foundation) Mumbai, Maharashtra. The purpose of this agreement is to promote co-operation in the capacity building of different programmmes of JGND PSOU so as to develop student leadership and sense of social responsibility among the students and other stakeholders. The University will allocate students through colleges under JGND PSOU for involvement in social service activities of IDF, primarily the Student Leadership Program (SLP) and other allied activities.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala congratulated both the organizations for this collaboration. Prof. Karamjeet Singh said that this program will help the students from the colleges of Punjab to enhance their social skills and leadership qualities. He added that the student will also get a certificate of attendance and appreciation for the number of hours he/she attends for the successful completion of the project and the entire exercise will help the student to enhance their capacity building and life-skills. He further said that the Student Leadership Program will have tremendous social impact on the whole state of Punjab.
Dr. Narayan Iyer, Co- Founder and CEO of IDF said that we should fulfil our life’s purpose by serving the society or doing Sewa, as it goes with us till eternity. He also added that the IDF will impart training to volunteers in areas like leadership, communication, writing, news gathering, report writing, editing, resource mobilization, social marketing, teaching, health awareness program and ensure that they produce good results in the area of their choice. S. Harwinder Singh, Member IDF also shared his views on SLP and also talked about his book “The Winning Leader”.
Dr. G.S. Batra, Dean Academic Affairs and Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu, Registrar of the University were also present during this monumental event.
