SGGS World University Organised a National Seminar Dedicated to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

A special national seminar dedicated to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib was organized by the World University. The Chief Guest of the function Harjinder Singh Dhami, Principal Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and Chancellor University congratulated the University and said that the events dedicated to the fourth centenary of Guru Tegh Bahadur by the University are commendable. He said that it is very important and necessary to practice Gurbani and Guru’s teachings. University’s Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ajaib Singh Brar attended the function as a special guest. Pro. Brar stressed the need for coordination between the research departments of Religious Studies and Sikh Studies in different universities.The program was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Prit Pal Singh. He informed that for the last two years, special lectures, webinars and seminars, and other co-educational activities have been organized in the University to commemorate the fourth centenary celebrations of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. He said that during these activities, eminent scholars from India and abroad have shared their views with the students. On this occasion the keynote speaker Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon, Retired Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar discussed the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji as recorded in Gurmukhi, Persian, Rajasthani and English sources. Dr. Sikandar Singh, Head of the department of Punjabi, deliberated on the discourse on Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. Bhai Harpal Singh, Head Granthi of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib while addressing the audience said that Bani of Guru Sahib can provide invaluable guidance to humanity. On the occasion, Dr. Paramveer Singh, Head, Department of Encyclopedia of Sikhism, Punjabi University, Patiala also deliberated on the preachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. The vote of thanks was presented by the Dean Academic Affairs of the University, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing at the end of the function. Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Head of the Department presented the welcome note and the stage was conducted by Dr. Hardev Singh, Assistant Professor of the Department. Heads, In-charges and Assistant Professors of various departments were present on the occasion.
