The Aviation Industry is the fastest growing industry world-wide as well as in India’. The number of job opportunities in the field of Civil Aviation have increased manifold during the last couple of years.

Punjab State Aeronautical Engineering College (PSAEC) Patiala provides a

golden opportunity to secure jobs in the aviation industry.

This was stated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS PTU), Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu at a press conference in PSAEC at Patiala on Monday.

“Demand is going to rise in coming years too. PSAEC was providing a boost to the Civil Aviation Industry in the state.” he added.

He pointed out that Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering scope in India is

growing at a rapid pace as the Aviation sector is growing at 200 percent. India is the

third-largest civil aviation marketplace in the world, having the potential to be in the

first place.

The demand for the Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineers is increasing day by day. Lots of job options are available in government and the private sectors in India.

Prof. Sidhu said the work of Aeronautical Engineering is a combination of study, design, construct, manufacture, and test the aircraft and the entire flying vehicle within the Earth’s atmosphere. An Aerospace Engineer designs, develops, researches, tests and maintains the performance of rockets, military & civil aircraft, missiles, weapons systems, satellites, etc.

Dr. Sidhu said major job opportunities are available in Air Force, Airlines, Corporate Research Companies, Helicopter Companies, Defense Ministry, Aviation Companies, NASA, Flying clubs, Aeronautical Laboratories, Aircraft manufacturers, government owned air services and many others.

It may be mentioned here that PSAEC, a premier institute in the country is a constituent College of MRS-PTU.

PSAEC offers B.Tech (Aeronautical Engineering), B. Tech. (Aerospace Engineering), Bachelor in Management Studies (Airlines, Tourism and Hospitality) and BBA (Aviation Management).

Prof. Sidhu pointed out that along with the flying crews, Ground technical staff plays an equally important role in achieving the ultimate airworthiness of Aircraft. He said that this college adjacent to the Patiala Aviation Club enabled the students to secure sufficient practical knowledge and flying experience.

While stressing on the need for creating excellence in Academic Research and

Skill Development, he said due to the safety requirements in Aviation, we need to have a high level of personal integrity, commitment to accuracy and upholding standards in Aviation Engineering. Later media-persons also visited the Aviation Club and Aerodrome to see the

practical work.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda has signed

an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Friends Union for Energizing Lives

(FUEL), Pune to provide skilling support to the youth to enhance their employability

and to provide placement opportunities in Multi National Companies (MNC’s)

associated with FUEL.

The MoU is signed by Mr. Ketan Deshpande, Founder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer -CEO (FUEL) and Er. Harjot Singh Sidhu, Director training and placement, MRS-PTU Bathinda in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu.

FUEL has received the highly prestigious Ashoka Fellowship which is awarded to leading social entrepreneurs for their exemplary solutions to social issues. It is supported by India’s leading corporate foundations.

This MOU would create an initial roadmap for students of MRS-PTU, its constituent & affiliated colleges for improvement in the employability potential through interventions by experts of FUEL such as Aptitude training, Future Skill Development (Domain Training), Personality Development, and Soft Skills Initiatives which are completely free of cost.

Our students Mr. Ankur Sinha and Mr. Vital Bansal of B.Tech Aerospace Engineering (Sem 6th) participated in asteroid hunting competition Analysis of Images from Pan STARRS recognized by NASA, USA

Mr. Ankur Sinha participated in the NASA data challenge, under NASA’s

astrophoto challenges in summer 2021. In this competition our student analyzed the
data gathered by various NASA’s telescopes. And his subject was M87 galaxy. Out of all candidates, only 32 were selected by NASA from entire world & there were from India. Our Institute feels proud that out of 3 Indiana, one selected candidate is from our institute.

Punjab State Aeronautical Engineering College Patiala was established in the year 2018 by the Government of Punjab funded by (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and is a constituent college of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda at Civil Aerodrome, Sangrur Road, Patiala to provide degree level specialized courses in Aviation aeronautical and Aerospace and allied branches.

The main objective of the institute is to impart high quality education in the field of Aviation Industry by providing a scholarly and professional environment, having experienced and dedicated faculty, with a world class academic infrastructure sprawling over 10 acres campus in the lush and verdant environment of Patiala.

Broadly there are two major departments offering different aviation related courses for the fulfillment of every aspect of the Aviation industry. The Engineering department offers a 4 year degree program in B. Airlines, Tourism, and Hospitality Management sectors are growing at a rapid speed in the current times and are the largest employment generators and foreign exchange earners. This course focuses majorly on practical exposure in all three allied fields. Through this course students will be able to understand the functioning of Airlines, Tourism and Hospitality Management sectors.

BCA

The scope of this course has a global approach with the inclusion of foreign language ‘French’, the course also enhances interpersonal skill development, personality development, event management skills, front office operations, travel start ups, blogging etc. Various career options are Ground Staff, Event managers, Govt. Tourism Offices and Boards, Executive Research Consultant.

The students will be able to have knowledge of the ticketing software AMADUS which is popular worldwide for Hotel and Air Ticket bookings.

Bakery and Confectionery

This course has been started with the purpose of Skill enhancement and encouraging startups and entrepreneur skill development.
