“Sunder Ladkiya Da Mukabla”:Bathinda police files FIR against beauty contest organisers
Punjab | Police registered an FIR after posters advertising a beauty contest to be held on Oct 23 were put up in Bathinda. Posters advertised that the winning girl will be given a chance to marry a Canadian NRI.
In the advertisement for the event, the organisers have written “sunder ladkiyon ka mukabla” (only for general caste). Photo of the poster went viral on social media in no time.
Taking note of the posters, Bathinda cops have registered a case against Surinder Singh and Ram Dyal Singh Jaura under various IPC sections including cheating
A case under sections 501 (printing matter known to be defamatory), 509 (intending to insult the modesty of any woman) 109 (an offers or bribe as a reward for some favour in the exercise of an official function) of the Indian Penal Code and Indecent Representation of Women Prohibition Act, 3 was registered against the accused.
