Three-Day Celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Purab Concluded at SGGS World University
Three-day celebration of the prakash purab of the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji today concluded with great devotion and enthusiasm at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University with the bhog of Sehaj Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The students of music department recited hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Dr. Sewak Singh addressed the gathering and motivated the students to follow the Sikh tenets to lead a peaceful and contented life. He exhorted the gathering to change the way of motivating young generation in such a way that following a disciplined life doesn’t seem a pressure on them , rather a natural way of life.
The three day celebrations included various events such as competitions of poster-making and slogan writing on the life, teachings and travels of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Declamation and Solo Shabad Gayan. The winners were felicitated with certificates and mementos.
Besides these competitions, free Medical, Physiotherapy and Homeopathy camps were organised by the Department of Physiotherapy. The camp was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Ajaib Singh Brar, Pro-Chancellor of the University accompanied by the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh. A team of physiotherapists Dr. Pankajpreet Singh (HOD, Physiotherapy), Dr Ajay Kumar, Dr. Priyanka, Dr Gaganpreet Kaur, Dr Mankirat Singh, Dr Ramneet Kaur and Dr Sartaj Singh (Homeopathy Physician) provided their services for the camp. About one hundred patients were benefited from the camp.
The Department also organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with NSS and Red Ribbon Club. A team of doctors (Dr Monika Kalyan and Dr. Sukhwinder Singh) and supporting staff from Rajindra Medical College and Hospital, Patiala visited the University for collection of units of blood.
The University also organised a photography competition of Gurdwara Sahib and places of religious importance at Fatehgarh Sahib, and exhibition of paintings on Sikh history and culture.
Dr Ajaib Singh Brar said that the University is committed to spread the teachings of Guru Nanak among the youngsters, so that the young generation can be led to the path of righteousness and welfare of all. Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University congratulated the students and the faculty and motivated them to seek guidance and moral strength from the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Dr. SS Billing, Dean Academic Affairs appreciated the efforts of the organisers. All the events were organised under the guidance of Dr. Sikander Singh, Dean Students’ Welfare of the University. A Street play and Gatka was performed as the concluding events of the celebration.
