YPS Patiala turns 75,gets Raja Randhir Singh shooting range

Yadavindra Public School, Patiala celebrated day 2 of YPS@75 with more enthusiasm and verve. The school inaugurated a state-of-the-art Underground Shooting range and Cricket Pavilion on the campus today, Wednesday, February 1st, 2023. The other activities of the day included Pagal Gymkhana games and Cricket and Basketball matches between old students and present Yadavindrians. The day’s celebrations were witnessed by the esteemed YPS Board of Governors, AYOSA executives, eminent guests, old students, YPS staff and students.

On Day 2 of YPS@75 celebrations, the school inaugurated a newly constructed state-of-the-art underground Shooting range. This new addition to the magnificent campus of YPS is named after Raja Randhir Singh, famous Olympian and Arjuna Awardee, a YPS alumnus, who represented India in the Olympic games, Asian games and Commonwealth Games. Raja Randhir Singh inaugurated YPS Shooting Range today. It is a composite Shooting range comprising 10M, 25M and 50M targets. It is the first fully indoor shooting range in the country which will provide training to students of the National and International level. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Old Yadavindrians who have made their mark in the sport namely Ekam Singh mandi, Achal Pratap Singh, Simranpreet kaur Johal, Harveen sarao, Raj Kanwar Singh Sandhu, Abhay Sekhon and school’s class X Shooting player, Mridvika Bhardwaj.

The other addition to the YPS campus is the Cricket Pavilion, which is a true replica of one present in Aitchison College, Lahore. It is dedicated to Lala Amarnath, a Padma Bhushan Awardee, an Indian Cricket Patriarchal figure, and the first captain of the Indian Cricket team of Independent India, The pavilion was inaugurated by Mr Surendra Amarnath, a former member of the Indian Cricket Team.

The other highlights of the day included Pagal Gymkhana games where the school students took part in various fun games like lemon n spoon, skipping race, crab race, wheel n barrow, hoopla race, etc. Customarily, a Cricket match was played between OYs and the Present students’ team where Old Yadavindrians won the match. Basketball (Girls and Boys) matches were also played between OYs and present Yadavindrians. OY Boys and Present Yadavindrian Girls won the matches.

A plethora of events on Day 2 of YPS Foundation Day celebrations kept everyone amused. The whole campus reverberated with joy and excitement.
