Patiala, April 8:
The Department of cardiology at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala added yet another laurel to its credit by conducting four structural heart procedures in a single day. Dr Saurabh Sharma, (Assistant professor and Incharge of Cardiology )who spearheaded this interventional achievement told our correspondent that these procedures were first of their kind to have been performed outside PGI in this region. “Structural heart interventions are being performed at Rajindra Hospital since 2022, but it’s for first time PDA closures were done in two 7 year old children and two large ASD closure were done using a 44MM and 42 MM device” told Dr. Saurabh Sharma.All these procedures were done free of cost under the aegis of Ayushmann Bharat scheme,
Dr Saurabh Sharma also highlighted that more than 700 patients have availed cardiac intervention services like coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty pacemaker implantation, ASD device closure, PDA device closure and peripheral angioplasty at Rajindra Hospital Patiala since the Cath Lab became operational in 2021. All cardiac procedures are done free of cost under Ayushmann scheme.
Dr Saurabh Sharma thanked Dr Reikhi, Medical Superintendent, Dr Rajan Singla, Director Principal, his entire Cath Lab team, Dr Kler, Professor of Anaesthesia, Dr Tanveer, Assistant professor,cardiac anaesthesia for successful completion of this endeavour.
