Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi wins 11th RGNUL National Moot Court Competition

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab organized the 11th RGNUL National Moot Court Competition, 2023 from 20th to 21st April, 2023. A total of 30 teams from all over India participated in the competition. This edition of the Competition aimed at testing the oratory and research skills of the participating teams. The competition commenced with draw of lots and exchange of memorials on 7th April, 2023. Further, the teams participated in two intellectually demanding virtual preliminary rounds which were adjudged by an eminent panel of academicians and practising advocates on 7th April. The Quarter-Final Rounds were organized on 20th April wherein the top 8 qualified teams were adjudged by a highly specialised panel of academicians and lawyers. These rounds were then followed by semi-final rounds wherein the top 4 teams were adjudged by three-judges bench each consisting of sitting judges of session courts, senior professors and practising lawyers. The teams were thoroughly tested on their knowledge of law and facts. The two teams which sustained the semi-finals were Army Institute of Law, Mohali and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi.

 

The final rounds were conducted on 21st April and were adjudged by a three Judges Bench consisting of Hon’ble (Mr.) Justice Darshan Singh, Former Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Prof. (Dr.) Gurpal Singh, Professor of Law, Punjabi University, Prof. (Dr.) G.I.S. Sandhu, Former Registrar, RGNUL.

 

Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi won the first prize. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 30,000. Army Institute of Law, Mohali was declared as runner-up. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000. Ms. Samika Verma from Army Institute of Law, Mohali was adjudged as the best speaker and she was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 8,000. The best memorial prize went to HNLU Raipur and they were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 8,000. The Best witness prize was won by Shashank Tripathi from RGNUL, Punjab and he was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 8,000.

 

The Competition was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Anand Pawar, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL, Dr. Geetika Walia, Associate Professor of Law and members of the Moot Court Committee at RGNUL.
