Ghaziabad: Gang rape accused Junaid arrested after an encounter by UP police
A woman in Ghaziabad was allegedly raped by three men when they intercepted her while she was driving a scooty on an isolated stretch. She was overpowered and dragged to the bushes by the men who committed the crime. Five accused were arrested.
The woman, who is from Delhi, was learning to ride a scooter with two of her friends – a female colleague and a male friend – when she was targeted by the accused. Her friends fled the spot.
One of the accused has been identified as Junaid, a resident of Khanpur in Ghaziabad. Four others are absconding, the police said. “Junaid was shot in the leg and has been sent to the hospital for treatment. During questioning, he said that on Thursday evening, he saw two women and a man standing in an isolated area in Khanpur. He called over his other friends, dragged one of the two women to the bushes and gangraped her,” said Ritesh Tripathi, ACP Loni (caretaker).
