Brampton man charged after 52 kg of suspected cocaine seized from truck

A Brampton truck driver is facing charges after border police seized 52 kilograms of cocaine at the Blue Water Bridge.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said a commercial truck entered Canada on December 4 at the port of entry in Point Edward. During an inspection, CBSA officers discovered boxes containing the suspected cocaine.

Manpreet Singh, 27, of Brampton, was charged with importing cocaine and possessing cocaine for trafficking, officials said. The charges are before the Sarnia courts, officials said.

“Border services officers . . . work in partnership with the RCMP to prevent illegal activity at the border and to keep Canadians safe from illegal drugs,” An Nguyen, a CBSA official from the region, said in the statement.

He has been charged with importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The matter is currently before the courts in Sarnia.
