VB arrests police station Moharrir Head Constable for taking Rs 30,000 bribe

VB on hunt to arrest co-accused ASI Manjinder Singh

 

Chandigarh March 14 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has apprehended Sukhwinder Singh, Moharrir Head Constable (MHC), Police Station Kotbhai, Sri Muktsar Sahib district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.

 

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned Head Munshi has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Sarbjit Singh, a resident of village Malhan, tehsil Giddarbaha.

 

He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the above mentioned MHC and ASI Manjinder Singh, posted in the same police station have been demanding a bribe of Rs 60,000 for helping his friend involved in a police complaint registered at the police station regarding a quarrel between two parties.

 

The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary investigation of this complaint, a VB team from Sri Muktsar Sahib unit of Bathinda range laid a trap and nabbed the accused Head Munshi in the presence of two official witnesses while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant.

 

He added that in this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against both the above mentioned accused at VB police station Bathinda range. Teams have been dispatched to arrest the co-accused ASI Manjinder Singh and role of SHO of the police station would also be probed during the investigation, he added.
