Two-day Annual Athletic Meet Concludes at Desh Bhagat University

The two-day Annual Athletic Meet currently underway at Desh Bhagat University concluded today. The Faculty of Social Sciences emerged as the overall sports championship winner for the session 2023-24, with the Faculty of Social Pharmacy securing the runner-up position. The team from the Faculty of Social Sciences clinched victory in the athletic meet.

The chief guest at the closing ceremony was Patiala Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. In his address, he emphasized the importance of sports in life, stating that sports not only bring people of all age groups together on one platform to get to know each other but also help eliminate mutual animosity. Keeping oneself healthy through sports is the easiest means in the hustle and bustle of life. Along with academically meritorious students, the university has also groomed excellent athletes who have brought laurels to the university and the family on national and international platforms. Sports provide an environment where everyone undergoes collective development equally. He called upon officials, teachers, and athletes present to include sports in their daily lives, which will not only keep us physically and mentally fit but also provide an opportunity to establish sweet relationships with each other.

The best athlete Karamjot Singh and the best athlete female Komal Devi were from the faculty of social sciences and languages.The team of the Faculty of Pharmacy was the winner in Tug of War Men.

In the program, Chief guest DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, special guest Baljinder Singh Toor, Secretary of Gatka Federation of India, Advisor to Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh, and Media Director Dr. Surjit Kaur Patheja honored the winners of various games with medals. The Director of Sports, Dr. Praveen Kumar proposed vote of thanks.
