Desh Bhagat University Hosts Successful Budding Chef Competition Showcasing Indian Regional Cuisines

Desh Bhagat University’s School of Hotel Management & Tourism organized a vibrant and competitive ‘Budding Chef Competition’ focused on the rich tapestry of Indian Regional Cuisines. The event saw enthusiastic participation from fifteen teams representing institutes from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttarakhand.

 

The competition was designed to highlight the diversity and flavors of Indian cuisine, with teams tasked with creating three-course meals comprising salads, main courses, and desserts. Each team was assigned a specific regional theme, including Maharashtrian, Punjabi, Bengali, Rajasthani, Awadhi, and Navaratri cuisines, adding an element of cultural exploration to the culinary challenge.

 

The event culminated in an impressive display of culinary skills, where the team of Kajal and Sharanpreet from Desh Bhagat University claimed the prestigious first prize with their exquisite Bengali cuisine creations. The second prize went to the talented team from Chandigarh University, who impressed the judges with their Maharashtrian delicacies. Additionally, the teams from GNA University and Quantum University jointly secured the third position for their captivating Navaratri-themed dishes and authentic Awadhi cuisine, respectively.

 

The awards ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President of Desh Bhagat University, who applauded the participants for their dedication and emphasized the importance of participation as a key to personal and professional growth. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, commended the competition for fostering a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among aspiring chefs. Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur highlighted the competition’s role in celebrating India’s unity in diversity, showcasing the country’s culinary heritage through innovative dishes.

 

The success of the Budding Chef Competition was made possible by the meticulous coordination of Chef Rinku Singh, Rakesh Ahlawat, and Rupinder Kaur, with overall guidance from Dr. Aman Sharma, Director of the School of Hotel Management & Tourism.
