On the occasion of Baisakhi, Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh of DBU presents turbans

On the occasion of Khalsa Sthapana Diwas and Baisakhi, celebrated at Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Dasvi, Sector 8-C, Chandigarh, under the supervision of Sukhjinder Singh Behal (President), Bhupinder Singh (Secretary General), and Satnam Singh Randhawa (Coordinator), a turban tying competition was organized in which students from 82 schools in Chandigarh participated. On this occasion, Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh of Desh Bhagat University took on the role of Chief Sevadar. He awarded turbans to the winners of the competition and inspired them to embrace Sikhism and understand the significance of the turban. Dr. Zora Singh mentioned that the rich history of sacrifice in Sikhism is deeply ingrained in our culture.

 

 

 

At the Gurudwara Sahib, Ragis and Dhadis groups connected the congregation with the sacrificial history of Khalsa. In this turban-tying competition, students from Shri Guru Harkrishan SS Public School Sector 40-C, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Public School 35-B, and Bhai Jaita Ji Foundation Plot No.1 Sector 28-A, Chandigarh participated. In the age group of 7 to 11, Gurpratap Singh son of Jasbir Singh (First Place), Sukhmanpreet Singh son of Harsimranjeet Singh (Second Place), and Sahjadeep Singh son of Davinder Singh secured third place.

 

 

 

In the age group of 12 to 17, Sharanjeet Kaur daughter of Bhupinder Singh and Gurbeer Singh son of Jagtar Singh (First Place), Arshdeep Singh son of Gurdeep Singh (Second Place), and Pradeep Singh son of Keval Singh secured third place. Dr. Zora Singh presented turbans to all students who participated in the competition. The management committee of the Gurudwara praised Dr. Zora Singh’s service and honored him with special recognition. Langar (community kitchen) was also served at the Gurudwara.
