Doctors of government hospitals of Patiala district went on strike for 2 hours on the issue of safety in hospitals

The Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) Punjab had previously announced a state-wide strike on April 22 (Monday) at all government hospitals and public health care centers across the state. But yesterday, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh met the office bearers of the association and assured to make security arrangements. On which the organization restricted it to a symbolic rally of 2 hours instead of a full-day strike today. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Sunil Bhagat, SMO, ESI. Hospital Hoshiarpur patient is under treatment in critical condition at DMC Hospital Ludhiana due to quarrel and assault by relatives of some patient.

 

PCMSA Patiala unit of the organization, in the rally held at Mata Kaushalya Hospital in Patiala today, reiterated its demand for adequate security arrangements at all public hospitals in the state, demanding zero tolerance towards incidents of violence against health officials and employees in view of the Hoshiarpur incident. They said that this is a symbolic strike of two hours, but if adequate security arrangements are not made in the hospitals, then the collective organizations of the health workers will be forced to wage a serious and widespread struggle.

 

Meanwhile, the Patiala unit of the Indian Medical Association, an organization of private doctors, has also announced to keep its clinics closed for 1 hour from 9-10 am in view of the seriousness, to support the government doctors. Also, the Lab Technicians Union also supported and reiterated this demand because it is related to everyone. The Civil Surgeon also joined the demonstration along with the officers of his office.

 

All doctors of Mata Kaushlya Hospital including Dr. Harinder Gill, Dr. Sumeet Singh, Dr. Nidhi Sharma, Dr. Bimaljot Singh, Dr. Zorawar Singh were present on this occasion. Apart from this, 2-hour rally demonstrations were also held in hospitals at Tripri, Samana, Rajpura, Nabha, Ghanur etc.
