SGPC President strongly condemns sacrilege in Bandala village Gurdwara of Ferozepur

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Gurdwara Sahib Baba Bir Singh at village Bandala in Ferozepur district.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said that in the recent past, many incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib have taken place, but the police administration and the government have completely failed to stop such incidents. He said that such incidents are part of a bigger conspiracy, and it is extremely important to bring the forces working behind them to light. He said that due to the government and the police not giving strict and exemplary punishment to the culprits of sacrilege, there has been a lot of anger and resentment among the community. He said that the government, through its machinery, should expose the forces working behind the sacrilege incident of Ferozepur. The SGPC President also appealed to the Sangat to make strict arrangements for surveillance and security inside Gurdwaras through CCTV cameras and to keep attendants present at all times for guarding.

Meanwhile, SGPC secretary Partap Singh said that as per the instruction of Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, today the SGPC representatives including area member Darshan Singh Sher Khan, additional manager from Gurdwara Jamani Sahib Bazidpur Ferozepur Jaspal Singh, head granthi Giani Balvinder Singh, granthi Giani Gurbhajan Singh, preacher Sukhwinder Singh and others reached the incident spot at village Bandala and after taking complete information, sent a report which will be sent to Sri Akal Takht Sahib for further action.

Partap Singh said that it is clear from the CCTV camera recording obtained from the spot that on May 4, the culprit of this incident went inside the Gurdwara, tore the sacred parts of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and took them along with him outside. He said that the holy Saroop desecrated by the accused will also be preserved as per norms in the coming days.
