Stampede situation at Thane Railway station after sandstorm
A viral video shows countless women passengers desperately attempted to board an already overcrowded train compartment. The footage depicted a sea of commuters pushing and shoving their way towards the train, with barely any room to spare inside. CR’s chief PRO Swapnil Nila said, “Due to signal failure at Thane, all mainline and transharbour services were held up for almost an hour between 9:05am and 10:15am.” This led to delays of up to 30 minutes even after fault was rectified.
The disruptions led to chaotic scenes at several stations. Dadar commuter Rakesh Chavan said “there was a stampede-like situation on the platform.”
