Punjab: Odisha girl abducted, raped in Jalandhar; 3 arrested
In a shocking incident that has come to light from Punjab, a 21-year-old student, who belongs to Odisha, was allegedly gangraped early on Wednesday. The incident occurred near Dokaha railway crossing on the Jalandhar-Ludhiana national highway, police said.
The accused took the girl from Patara area in their car to a deserted place and committed rape. The accused fled from the spot leaving the victim, police said.
The 24-year-old girl had come to study at Lovely Professional University. She is originally from Odisha. On Monday night, she along with two of her friends came to have dinner at the food cord near Dhilwan Phatak late at night.
According to the information received, the victim girl is student of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at Lovely Professional University (LPU).
Station House Officer (SHO) of Patara police station Varinder Pal Singh said that the three accused will be produced in the court soon and taken on remand and interrogated.
The accused, Amanjot Singh, Ranveer Singh and Manjit Singh of Ladhewali, were arrested within hours and booked under Sections 376 (rape), 366 (abduction), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
The victim told the police that two of the accused were in the attire of nihangs
