Patiala boy Mayank Markande made his senior Team India debut in the first Twenty20 International on Sunday against Australia at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Markande hence became the 79th player to represent India in the shortest format of the game.

The 21-year-old spinner had been making the right noises ahead of his maiden senior international call-up. He recently led India A to victory in the second unofficial Test against the England Lions as he picked up a five-wicket haul in the second innings.

Markande has impressed one and all with his bowling ever since his debut with the Mumbai Indians in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League.
