Woman Dragged by Car for Several Metres in Mandi in Daylight Robbery Attempt, 3 Arrested

In a shocking incident in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, an attempt was made to rob a college student in broad daylight. When the assailants failed to snatch her belongings, they dragged the young woman for several metres with their car. The incident occurred on the Mandi-Pathankot National Highway near Aihju. Three people were arrested after video of the incident went viral. Three individuals from Punjab, travelling in a car, attempted to snatch a chain, mobile phone, and purse from a college student named Neha Verma, a 20-year-old resident of Suja Sandrahal village. The student was waiting for a bus around 3:00 PM on Friday when the assailants targeted her. Despite their attempts, they couldn’t successfully snatch her bag, which was around her neck. In their desperation, they drove the car, dragging Neha along for about 20 feet before she fell onto the road, sustaining injuries. Following this incident, the suspects proceeded towards Jogindernagar, where they attempted to run over a Home Guard officer and a woman on a scooter at Sai Bazaar. A Home Guard officer managed to apprehend one of the suspects, but in the chaos, the assailants hit five parked vehicles and fled the scene. They also collided with another vehicle near the approach road. Despite changing the car’s number plate to evade the police, the suspects were eventually captured at a police blockade in Gumma. The three individuals, identified as being from Punjab, are now in police custody and are being interrogated. The injured student was taken to Baijnath Hospital for treatment.
