National Oral Hygiene Day celebrated at Desh Bhagat University
Mandi Gobindgarh, 1 August 2024: National Oral Hygiene Day was celebrated in collaboration with the Dentistry Club today by the Department of Periodontics of Desh Bhagat Dental College which is an integral part of Desh Bhagat University. This day is celebrated to mark the importance of maintaining Oral Hygiene in our daily life basis. The college had a cake-cutting ceremony in the department. Dr. Zora Singh Chancellor, Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, and Advisor to Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh graced the occasion with their presence. All the faculty members were also present.
The Principal of Dental College & Hospital formally welcomed all the dignitaries which was followed by a lamp lighting ceremony and DBU anthem. She informed everyone that this day was celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. G.B Shankwalker, who was the pioneer in the field of Periodontology and also the founder of the Indian Society of Periodontology. Chancellor Dr Zora Singh also shared his views on the day.
On this day, the patients were also educated and motivated to maintain oral hygiene and were informed about the ill effects of not maintaining the same. In the end, Principal Dr. Unnati Pitale gave a vote of thanks to conclude the event.
