Desh Bhagat University organized a one-day Basic Training on Students’ Rights
Mandi Gobindgarh, 25 August : Faculty of Education at Desh Bhagat University organized a one-day Basic Training on Students’ Rights, sponsored by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi. The event commenced with a floral welcome of the dignitaries and a lamp lighting, followed by the DBU anthem. Prof(Dr) H.K Sidhu, IQAC Coordinator and Co-Convenor of the event, formally welcomed all the guests. This was followed by an introduction to the theme by Prof (Dr) Precious, Director of the Faculty of Education and Convenor of the Event.
Mr. Yadwinder Singh, Editor of Pro Punjab TV, served as the Eminent resource person, focusing on the utilization of the digital era to raise awareness of rights and duties. Eminent resource person (Retd. Session Judge) Shri Bhupinder Singh, who currently serves as Registrar, Haryana Law Commission, provided guidance on various student rights, including the right to education and the right to equality. He also informed the students about their fundamental duties.
Guest Speaker Ms. Ditpti Goyal, Civil Judge (SD) CJM Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, provided guidance on legal literacy to the students. Guest Speakers, Dr. Amita Kaistha from Punjabi University, Patiala and Dr. Nidhi Swaroop from Doraha, also provided guidance to the students about the articles of the Indian constitution of Rights and provisions.
On this occassion Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh, and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur appreciated the department’s efforts in providing students with a platform to update them about their rights and their practical applications in life.
The event concluded with the felicitation of guests and speakers, followed by a vote of thanks to all, by Prof. Precious Sheoran. All the members of the faculty of education, including Dr. Vijay Puri, Dr. Anureet Kaur, Dr. Deepu Kumar, Dr. Chanderkanta, Mr. Satish Kumar, Mr. Gurtej Singh, Mrs. Ramanpreet Kaur, Mrs. Rajwinder Kaur, Mrs. Nikita Devi were present at the program.
