Tejinderpal Sandhu joins Congress

Giving further boost to the Congress party ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha Polls, senior Akali leader Tejinder Pal Singh Sandhu on Monday joined the party in the presence of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
Welcoming Sandhu into the party fold, Captain Amarinder Singh expressed confidence that the prospects of Congress in the Patiala Parliamentary Constituency would be further fortified and party would surely capture this prestigious seat with thumping majority.
According to a PPCC spokesperson, Sandhu, son of Late Akali veteran leader Jasdev Singh Sandhu a five time MLA from Ghanour, Sanour, Dhuri besides a former Minister had considerable following in Patiala region which would prove to be an asset for the party.
Pertinently, Sandhu’s mother Sardarni Jasdev Kaur Sandhu was also a three time legislator from Ghanour and Sanour. Sandhu also served as Chairman of Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board from 2000 to 2002.
Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, Sandhu said that he had joined Congress as he was feeling suffocated due to autocratic style of functioning of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal who had been persistently ignoring their family’s rich legacy of selfless service towards people of the region.
Prominent amongst those present at the occasion included PPCC President Sunil Jakhar, Cabinet Ministers Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MLA Faridkot Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon besides Sandhu’s family members.
