DBU Organised Expert talk themed ”Cyber World: Crime to Pathology”

Mandi Gobindgarh, 5 November: The Counselling Cell of Desh Bhagat University held a significant event in recognition of Mental Wellbeing Day. The event, themed “Cyber World: Crime to Pathology,” aimed to raise awareness about the mental health challenges posed by the digital age, particularly among youth.

The event featured a series of engaging activities, including expert talks, psychometry assessment, and interactive discussions. Dr. Kulbhushan Kumar kicked off the proceedings with a thought-provoking keynote address, emphasizing the psychological impacts of cyber bullying and the addictive nature of social media platforms. Mr. Amit Kumar gave insight to students for cyber security and cyberbullying. Mr Gurjeet Singh highlighted the importance of recognizing these issues and developing coping strategies.

Participants engaged in breakout sessions where they discussed their experiences and shared personal stories related to cyberbullying and addiction. These sessions fostered an open dialogue, allowing individuals to express their feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

To further educate attendees, the Counseling Cell distributed informative pamphlets that outlined signs of cyberbullying and addiction, along with practical tips for seeking help. The pamphlets also included resources for counseling services available within the institution.

In addition, the event featured a creative corner where participants could express their thoughts through art and writing, showcasing the therapeutic power of creative expression in addressing mental health challenges.

Dr. Zora Singh Chancellor DBU appreciated the efforts of Counseling Cell and ask the organizers to plan such events in future also. Dr. Tajinder Kaur Pr-Chancellor DBU suggested that follow up of this event should be taken from the students and faculty members.

“We believe that raising awareness is the first step in combating cyber bullying and addiction,” said Dr. Surjeet Kaur Patheja coordinator of the Counseling Cell. “This event provided a platform for individuals to share their experiences, learn from experts, and connect with one another.”
