Building collapses in Chandigarh’s Sector 17
A hotel located close to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Chandigarh’s Sector 17 collapsed early on Monday. No casualty or injury has been reported in the incident yet.
According to sources, three pillars of Hotel Mehfil – which had been closed for some years – developed cracks a week ago following some renovation work. The Chandigarh administration then declared the building unsafe and evacuated it a few days ago.
As a precautionary measure, police had even closed the route in front of the hotel.
