Desh Bhagat University celebrated Lohri at campus

Mandi Gobindgarh, 14 January: Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh is delighted to announce the successful celebration of Lohri, the much-awaited festival at University Campus . The event was a vibrant display of cultural heritage, community spirit, and traditional festivities.

Lohri, a festival marking the end of winter and the harvest of crops, brought together people from all walks of life to enjoy a lively evening filled with joy and togetherness. The celebration began with the traditional bonfire lighting, which symbolized gratitude to nature and a prayer for prosperity. Attendees gathered around the bonfire to offer sesame seeds, jaggery, and peanuts while singing folk songs, creating a heartwarming atmosphere.

The event featured a variety of cultural performances, including traditional Punjabi folk dances such as Bhangra and Gidda, as well as melodious renditions of classic folk songs. Students alike enthusiastically participated in games and activities, adding to the festive spirit.

Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor shared their thoughts on the occasion, stating, “Lohri is not just a festival; it is a celebration of life, community, and gratitude. We are thrilled to see such an overwhelming response from everyone who joined us to celebrate this joyous occasion.”

The event concluded with a vibrant DJ party where faculty and students danced to the beats of traditional and modern Punjabi music, leaving everyone energized and content.
