District-Level Yuva Utsav Celebrated at Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh

Mandi Gobindgarh, January 23: The District-Level Yuva Utsav was successfully organized with the collaboration of DBU at Desh Bhagat University in Sri Hargobind Sahib Auditoriam, under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various colleges and schools, including Chunni College, SGGSWU, PIMTS, Desh Bhagat University, and other educational institutions across the district.

Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, graced the event as the Chief Guest, along with Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor of the university. The program was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Pankaj Yadav, District Youth Officer from Nehru Yuva Kendra, in collaboration with Dr. Arshdeep Singh, Director of Student Welfare and Dr. Surjeet Patheja, Director Media and Performing Arts, Desh Bhagat University.

The event featured seven categories of competitions: Declamation, Poetry Writing, Painting, Photography, Cultural Team Events, Science Mela (Group), and Science Mela (Individual). The winners in each category received prize money and participation certificates, celebrating their hard work and talent. In the Declamation contest, Yeshpal, Sonali and Arshdeep Kaur stood first, second and third, Poetry Writing: Shivam Chaudhary, Bachulal, and Dilpreet Kaur, Painting: Mahima Sharma, Jatin Kumar, and Jashanjit Kaur. Photography: Sikha, Aarti Rani and Jagmeet Singh. Science Mela: Krishn, Harmeet Kaur, and Chander Sood, Cultural Team Event: The Gidha team of SGGSWU secured the 1st position, followed by Desh Bhagat University’s Gidha team in 2nd place, and Sarthak Foundation NGO’s Ludhi team in 3rd place.

In addition to the competitions, a Science Exhibition was showcased by various departments, including Agriculture, Dental, Robotics, Biotechnology, and Biofuels. Furthermore, stalls were presented by departments and organizations such as Employment Development, Sanjh Kendra, Punjab Police, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Drug De-addiction Centre, Civil Hospital, Sanjh Siksha, Dental Department of DBU, and Ayurveda Department of DBU.

In his address, Dr. Zora Singh congratulated all participants and highlighted the significance of such programs in nurturing young talent. Dr. Tajinder Kaur

emphasized the role of youth in nation-building and encouraged their active involvement in extracurricular and cultural activities.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Avinder Singh, Drug Project Officer from Ropar, who expressed gratitude to all participants, coordinators, and organizing teams, marking a memorable celebration of youth talent and innovation.
