Faculty and students of Desh Bhagat University Historical places and Participates in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
Mandi Gobindgarh, 25 January: The Faculty of Information Technology and Computing to collaboration with Ek Bharat Sahrestha Cell at Desh Bhagat University organized a meaningful and inspiring visit to Gurdwara Shri Fatehgarh Sahib today. This historical visit was a blend of spiritual enrichment and social responsibility, as the faculty and students actively participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to promote cleanliness and hygiene in the surroundings of the revered site.
The visit began with a warm welcome at the Gurdwara Sahib, where faculty members and students paid their respects and learned about the rich historical and cultural significance of the shrine. Gurdwara Shri Fatehgarh Sahib stands as a testimony to the valiant sacrifices made by the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and the visit provided an opportunity to reflect on the timeless values of courage, devotion, and resilience.
As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the team from Desh Bhagat University conducted a cleanliness drive in and around the premises of the Gurdwara Sahib. Armed with cleaning tools and a strong resolve to contribute to the national mission of a cleaner India, students and faculty member’s cleaned pathways, collected litter, and raised awareness about maintaining cleanliness in public places.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, emphasized the importance of combining education with social responsibility. He remarked, “At Desh Bhagat University, we believe in holistic development, which includes fostering a sense of responsibility towards society and the environment. The visit to Gurdwara Shri Fatehgarh Sahib and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are steps in this direction, aimed at instilling values of service, discipline, and community welfare among our students.”
Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor of the university, appreciated the efforts of the faculty and students. The event concluded with a group prayer for peace and prosperity.
