IGI Airport:Customs Officers booked a case of smuggling of foreign currency worth 91 Lakh

The Customs Officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of foreign currency i.e. €96,000 — having value of INR 91,72,800/- (💰 Rupees Ninety One Lakhs Seventy Two Thousand and Eight Hundred Only) against two Indian male passengers, both intended to depart to Bangkok on Flight No. SG 87 dated 20.04.2025 from Terminal 3, IGI Airport, New Delhi.

 

👮‍♂️ Acting on a specific input, the passengers were intercepted by the Customs officers. Personal & baggage checks led to recovery of the concealed foreign currency. The passengers admitted that the currency was meant to be smuggled abroad.

The said currency has been seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962.

⚖️ It is liable for confiscation under Section 113 of the Customs Act, read with FEMA, 1999 (as amended).

🚨 The passengers have been placed under arrest under Section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962.
