National Lok Adalat pertaining to all types of cases (except non compoundable criminal cases) was held in District Patiala on 24.05.2025 under the able guidance and supervision of Ms. Rupinderjit Chahal, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala. In this National Lok Adalat, 47 lok adalat benches (28 in Patiala, 06 in Rajpura, 05 in Nabha and 06 in Samana) were constituted in District Patiala. 01 bench was constituted in Revenue Court of District Patiala for settlement of maximum cases pertaining to mutation and partition etc. Besides, 01 bench was also constituted in women cell, Patiala to resolve the cases through mutual settlement prior to registration of cases in matrimonial disputes. In this National Lok Adalat, 37914 cases were taken up under different categories and 25059 cases were settled through mutual compromise involving amount of Rs 695084334/-.

 

During this National Lok Adalat, Ms Rupinderjit Chahal, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum- Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, accompanied by Ms. Amandeep Kamboj, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum- Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Patiala and Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Patiala actively engaged with the benches and encouraged the parties involved to seek amicable resolutions to their disputes.

 

On this occasion, Ms Amandeep Kamboj, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala highlighted the numerous advantages of Lok Adalats. She emphasized that once a case is resolved in a Lok Adalat, its decision becomes final and cannot be appealed. Additionally, any court fees previously paid by the parties are refunded. This process ensures a swift resolution of disputes, as per mutually agreed terms of the involved parties, leading to a beneficial outcome for all. The primary goal of Lok Adalats is to foster amicable settlements through compromise, ultimately saving time, money and mitigating personal animosity between the disputing parties.

 

The important feature of National Lok Adalat was the settlement of 372 cases pertaining to family disputes which were pending before the Family Courts.

 

 

Also in 06 Execution petitions titled as M/S Nucon Switchgears Pvt. Ltd., Vs. Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd., Parties were at loggerhead for total amount of Rs. 30,39,09,114/-. The matter was pending in the Ld. Court of Ms. Anjana, Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Patiala. With the intervention of Ld. Presiding Officer and Members of National Lok Adalat bench, the dispute between the parties was amicably resolved and settled for good between the parties in the sum of Rs. 30,39,09,114/- as full and final settlement.
