Patiala, July 2:
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has taken serious note of the lack of basic civic infrastructure in various private residential colonies of Patiala and directed stringent action against the defaulting builders.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with officials of the Patiala Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) and representatives of Resident Welfare Societies from Urban Estate, Kohinoor Enclave, Omaxe City, Friends Colony, and Jaildar Colony, Dr. Singh emphasized that public grievances must be addressed without delay and that officials will be held accountable for any negligence.
Dr. Balbir Singh issued strict instructions to PUDA officials to resolve the infrastructure issues in Omaxe City within one week, and directed that a notice be served to the builder of Kohinoor Enclave for failing to provide essential facilities.
The Minister also ordered the immediate cleaning of parks in Urban Estate, citing health concerns associated with stagnant water during the monsoon season, which could lead to outbreaks of dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.
He said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to ensuring well-developed and safe living environments for all residents. Dr. Singh stressed that field visits by officials are essential to understand ground-level problems and to implement effective solutions.
During the meeting, PUDA officials presented updates on ongoing development works and committed to resolving all pending issues without further delay. Dr. Singh directed the formulation of a time-bound action plan to complete infrastructure-related tasks efficiently.
He also assured residents that he would personally conduct surprise inspections to ensure that development works meet the required standards and timelines.
