Mohinder Bhagat assures full support for horticulture growth; interacts with cold storage owners and farmers

Chandigarh, September 26

The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is working proactively to further strengthen the horticulture sector in the state and enhance farmers’ incomes. In line with this objective, Horticulture Minister Mr. Mohinder Bhagat held a special meeting with cold storage unit owners and farmers from various districts of Punjab at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh.

During the meeting, cold storage unit owners and farmers apprised the Minister in detail of the difficulties they face. Mr. Bhagat listened attentively and assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed promptly. On the occasion, the cold storage owners also expressed their gratitude to the Punjab Government for the financial benefits being extended under various schemes.

The Horticulture Minister informed that under the National Horticulture Mission, the government is providing financial assistance for new plantations, cold storages, pack houses, technical support, and marketing facilities. These measures are helping connect farmers with modern technology, thereby ensuring sustained growth in productivity and income.

Mr. Bhagat further stated that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fully committed to the welfare of farmers and all stakeholders associated with the horticulture sector. He emphasized that every possible step will be taken to develop horticulture in Punjab so as to raise farmers’ incomes and create new employment opportunities.

Those present at the meeting included cold storage unit owners, farmers from different districts, Horticulture Secretary Mr. Basant Garg, Director Mrs. Shailender Kaur and senior officers.
