Chandigarh, 6 December
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang strongly condemned Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat for making deeply offensive and derogatory remarks against the Sikh community at a public meeting in Uttarakhand. Kang said Rawat, a senior Congress leader and former minister, mocked a Sikh man by repeating the phrase “12 baj gaye”, displaying the Congress party’s long-standing mindset of belittling and attacking Sikhs.
Kang said that mocking Sikhs is not new for the Congress party. “Whether it was firing cannons and bombs on our historic Gurdwaras, insulting Sikh children, the shameful behaviour of Punjab Congress leaders, or the recent Taran Taran by-election where Congress leaders placed their own pictures above the portrait of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, Congress has consistently disrespected Sikh sentiments,” he said.
The AAP MP reminded Harak Singh Rawat and the Congress leadership of the real history behind “12 o’clock”, the time when Sikh warriors would mobilize to rescue Hindu daughters being abducted and sold in Kabul by invaders like Abdali. “Sikhs risked everything to save the honour of this nation’s daughters. Instead of respecting this glorious history, Congress leaders mock it out of ignorance and arrogance,” Kang said.
He further stated that Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s 350th martyrdom year is being observed, yet the Congress chooses this moment to insult Sikhs. “Guru Sahib sacrificed everything not for Sikhs alone but to protect Hindu religion, culture, and human rights. This is how Congress repays that sacrifice?” he asked.
Kang said the Congress has repeatedly rewarded those responsible for anti-Sikh violence, especially the 1984 genocide. “From Delhi to Punjab, Congress remains rooted in dishonesty, hatred, and anti-Sikh prejudice,” he added.
Demanding strict action, Kang said:
“Rahul Gandhi must apologise. Punjab Congress President Raja Warring must apologise. Leader of Opposition Partap Bajwa must apologise. And Harak Singh Rawat must be immediately expelled from Congress.”
He warned that Sikhs will neither forget nor forgive such repeated insults. “Punjabis know Congress’s real face and will give them a powerful answer in the times ahead.”
