Drug-De-addiction Awareness Van Flagged Off by District Legal Services Authority

– “District and session Judge Avtar Singh Flagged Off the Van”

Patiala, December 8:

As per the directions of Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mohali, Sh. Avtar Singh, learned District & Sessions Judge, Patiala today flagged off a special awareness van as part of the District Legal Services Authority’s Drug De- Addiction and Awareness Campaign. The initiative aims to sensitize the public about the ill-effects of drug abuse, promote de-addiction services and encourage vulnerable individuals to seek rehabilitation support.

The flag-off ceremony was held in the premises of the District Courts,

Patiala in the presence of Judicial Officers, Legal Aid Defense Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers and staff of the District Legal Services Authority, Patiala. The awareness van will travel across various parts of the district to disseminateinformation through audio-visual messages, banners highlighting the ill effects of

drugs, pamphlets and interactions with the public. Addressing the gathering, Sh. Avtar Singh, learned District & Sessions

Judge emphasized the urgent need to combat the growing menace of drug addiction and highlighted the pivotal role of the District Legal Services Authority in spreading awareness, ensuring access to rehabilitation services, and supporting affected individuals and their families. The learned Judge also called upon citizens to actively participate in building a drug-free society.

The campaign will continue till 06.1.2026 with various outreach activities, including awareness camps, school and college interactions. Legal awareness programmes are being conducted in coordination with de-addiction and

rehabilitation centres.
