DBU Organizes Five-Day FDP on “Wellness at Work: Strengthening Mental Health Through Stress-Relief Exercises”

Mandi Gobindgarh, 12 December: The Faculty of Education at Desh Bhagat University conducted a five-day Faculty Development Programme for the Non-Teaching Staff members at the university on the theme “Wellness at Work: Strengthening Mental Health Through Stress-Relief Exercises.” The event took place under the supervision of Convener Prof. (Dr.) Precious Sheoran, Director, Education Department, and Co-Convener Ms. Arzoo, Assistant Professor cum Clinical Psychologist.
The FDP began with a beautiful opening ceremony, which included a Green Welcome of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, followed by Lamp Lighting and a Felicitation Ceremony in honour of the Esteemed Management for their unending support.
First day included an interactive session conducted by Ms. Dimple, Psychologist, titled “Stress to Success.” Participants were involved in motivational talks, self-awareness activities, stretching exercises, breathing resets, and cognitive restructuring, followed by an open discussion.
Second day kicked start with Ms. Ananya, Psychologist and her very engaging session on “Mobile Addiction and Life Protection.” The session included self-assessment tools, group discussions, habit correction methods, mindful usage, and an interactive Q&A session.
On third day Ms. Anushka, Psychologist, delivered a session on “Pause, Process, Perform.” The participants were made to practice breathing exercises, Grounding Techniques, Emotional Reset, Journaling, and Activity-based learning methods.
Fourth day an active session conducted by Ms. Arzoo, Assistant Professor and Clinical Psychologist Cum, on ‘From Procrastination to Productivity’. The session included discussion on Behavioural Activation, Time-Task Chunking, Antiprocrastination Techniques, Role Play Exercises, Motivation Boosters, and Productivity Challenges.
The final day began with a session on “Stress Management and Burnout Prevention” conducted by Ms. Shruti, Assistant Professor cum Clinical Psychologist. The activities conducted were Jacobson’s PMR, Guided Imagery, Stress Mapping, Burn Out Identification, Coping Skills Exercise, and Resilience Exercise. Feedback Session enabled participants to share their learning and suggestions for future programmes.
Delivering an address at the event Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh spoke about the need for stability of mind, employee wellness, leadership, and improvement on a personal level. The closing event included a Certificate Distribution Ceremony conducted by the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and a Vote of Thanks given by Ms. Shruti.
