Patiala: Deputy Commissioner issues strict orders regarding road safety

-Orders to remove illegal encroachments in front of shops in markets

 

– Jams outsidehospitals andschools will not be tolerated – Deputy Commissioner

 

-Strict instructions to the concerned authorities to reduce noise pollution and appeal to the public for cooperation

 

Patiala , December 24:

 

In a district-level meeting to ensure road safety and reduce noise pollution in Patiala district, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav received a report on the action taken by the concerned departments to reduce accidents on the identified black spots on the roads of the district and said that no stone should be left unturned to save precious human lives. She asked the officers of the concerned departments to prepare traffic management plans on the roads with high risk, including the roads with accidents, turns and roads with excess traffic load, and make necessary arrangements immediately and implement it in a time-bound manner , so that the traffic problem in the district including the city can be resolved as soon as possible.

 

Dr. Preeti Yadav ordered strict regulation of the street vendors present near Bhupindra Road , Rajindra Hospital , Thapar College , New Bus Stand , Manipal Hospital and National Park so that there is no disruption in traffic. She said that many lives are lost due to road accidents and by making some necessary changes and repairing the roads and following the road safety rules, these accidents can be prevented and precious lives can be saved. She directed the traffic police and municipal corporation officials to immediately remove all obstacles at the places where traffic jams occur in Patiala city so that people are not bothered due to such jams and it should also be ensured that there is no jam outside hospitals and schools.

 

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of the Public Works Department, Mandi Board , Forest Department , Municipal Corporation , who maintain the roads of the district, including the Transport Department, to remove obstacles on the roads, illegal encroachments and excess goods placed in front of the shops. He said that shopkeepers should not extend their hoardings, signboards, flexes and their goods on the roads. All vehicles should be parked only at the designated parking spaces.

 

The Deputy Commissioner, while issuing instructions to all the residents of the district regarding noise pollution, said that as per the rules issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court and the government, there is a ban on the use of unnecessary noise-producing devices, especially loud horns , but still the increasing noise pollution is having a negative impact on the health of the elderly , children , students and sick people . Therefore, he instructed the DSP (Traffic) to take strict action against the vehicle drivers violating traffic rules and honking loud horns and issue challans to them on the spot.

 

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people to prove themselves as responsible citizens by not blowing horns unnecessarily and cooperating with the administration in maintaining a peaceful, healthy environment. He said that controlling noise pollution is the shared responsibility of everyone and those violating the rules will not be spared at any cost .

 

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Dr. Ismit Vijay Singh and Regional Transport Officer Babandeep Singh Walia , SDMs Ashok Kumar , Naman Markan , Richa Goyal , Sukhpal Singh and Harjot Kaur besides officers of various departments were present.
