Patiala News: Hon’ble Justice inspected Jails and District Courts Patiala and Mediation and

Conciliation Centre, Patiala

Patiala, February 9:

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sh. H.S. Grewal, Administrative Judge, Hon’ble High Court of Punjab and Haryana, inspected Central Jail, Patiala and New District Jail, Nabha and conducted an inspection of the District Courts, along with the Mediation and Conciliation Centre at District Courts Complex, Patiala. On this inspection, Sh. Avtar Singh, learned District and Sessions Judge, Patiala was also present. During the inspection of the jails, the Hon’ble Judge interacted with the jail authorities as well as inmates and reviewed the facilities being provided to unde rtrial prisoners and convicts. Emphasis was laid on ensuring access to legal aid, timely disposal of cases and safeguarding the rights and dignity of inmates. Besides, the Hon’ble Judge inspected the functioning of District courts and held interactions with Judicial Officers and staff. The Hon’ble Judge appreciated the efforts being made for effective administration of justice and issued necessary directions for further improvement in court functioning, infrastructure and service delivery. The Hon’ble Judge also visited the ADR Centre and inspected Mediation and Conciliation Centre, where the functioning of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms was reviewed. Stress was laid on promoting amicable settlement of disputes through mediation and conciliation, thereby reducing pendency of cases and ensuring speedy justice to litigants.

The Inspection concluded with valuable guidance and directions aimed at strengthening the justice delivery system and enhancing access to justice for all stake

holders.
