Legal Aid Awareness Camp on Women’s Rights Organized by DBU School of Law

Mandi Gobindgarh, February 10: A Legal Aid Awareness Camp on Women’s Rights in the Digital Era was successfully organized by the ADR Center, Pro Bono Legal Service Club, Legal Aid Cell, University School of Law, Desh Bhagat University, in collaboration with the Women Grievance Redressal Cell, NSS and District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, at Village Meerpur, District Fatehgarh Sahib.
The camp was held at the village premises with active cooperation from the village administration. Sarpanch Smt. Harjot Kaur, along with her husband Mr. Ranjodh Singh, extended full support and facilitated community participation, which significantly contributed to the success of the camp.
The camp focused on creating awareness among women about cyber safety, digital privacy, online harassment, cybercrime, misuse of social media, identity theft and available legal remedies.
Law students explained key provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000, relevant sections of Criminal Law (BNS, BNSS), and constitutional safeguards, with special emphasis on cyber stalking, online fraud, digital blackmail, and protection of personal data. Faculty members Dr. Prabhjot Kaur Ghuman, Dr. Arti, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Ms. Manpreet Kaur Hayer, Mr. Sushan Bali and Mr. Arshdeep Singh actively participated and highlighted the role of education in empowering women in rural areas.
On the occasion, Dr. Zora Singh,Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, emphasizing the role of educational institutions in promoting social justice and digital awareness at the grassroots level.
The camp concluded with a vote of thanks to the village administration, faculty members and participants, marking the initiative as a meaningful step toward women empowerment and legal awareness at the grassroots level.
