Desh Bhagat University Hosts Insightful Cybersecurity Workshop, Inspiring Future Digital Defenders
Mandi Gobindgarh, March 26: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Computer Science Applications at Desh Bhagat University, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a workshop on “Cyber Security Awareness and Career Opportunities in the Digital Era”.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among students about the growing importance of cybersecurity while highlighting emerging career opportunities in this rapidly evolving field. The session commenced with an introduction focusing on the increasing risks associated with digital platforms and the urgent need for secure online practices.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of digital responsibility and cyber awareness in preventing cybercrimes. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) cum Dean Engineering, Dr. Buta Singh, motivated students to explore research and innovation in cybersecurity. Deputy Director, Dr. Khushboo Bansal, underlined the role of such initiatives in enhancing students’ skills and broadening their career prospects.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Sahil Baghla, Founder and CEO of EHI-Infotech Cybersecurity, who shared valuable industry insights. He elaborated on prevalent cyber threats, including phishing, malware, ransomware, and data breaches, supported by real-life examples. He also guided students on preventive measures such as adopting strong password practices, enabling two-factor authentication, and maintaining safe browsing habits.
A key highlight of the workshop was an engaging discussion on diverse career opportunities in cybersecurity, including roles such as ethical hacker, cybersecurity analyst, and network security engineer. Students were also informed about essential skills and certifications required to excel in the field.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to clarify their queries and deepen their understanding. Overall, the workshop proved to be highly informative and impactful, equipping students with essential knowledge and inspiring them to pursue careers in cybersecurity.
