Patiala, April 16, 2026

In a massive show of support for women empowerment and the historic Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, thousands of women from different sections of society, including NGO representatives, teachers, social workers, and women leaders, participated in a grand Nari Shakti Vandan March held in Patiala today.

The march was led by Ex MP Preneet Kaur along with former Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati and witnessed enthusiastic participation from women across various sections of society.

Addressing the gathering, Preneet Kaur expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing the long-awaited Women Reservation Bill to Parliament and making stronger political representation for women a reality.

She said that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which provides 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, is a transformational reform that will empower women politically and ensure their direct participation in the nation’s decision-making and law-making processes.

Preneet Kaur further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, women empowerment has moved beyond slogans and become a central pillar of governance. She highlighted that through initiatives such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, and increased participation of women in the armed forces and governance, the government has consistently worked to uplift women across every sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Manisha Gulati said that Indian women today are excelling in every field, including sports, education, administration, entrepreneurship, defence, and politics, and that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will further accelerate this transformation.

She added that this legislation is not merely a reservation bill, but a strong step toward ensuring that women become equal stakeholders in shaping the future of the nation.

The leaders thanked all participants for joining the march in large numbers and termed the event a historic show of support for women-led development and women empowerment in India.
