Patiala News:Deputy Commissioner reviews full dress rehearsal for district-level Independence Day function

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today reviewed the full dress rehearsal for the district-level Independence Day function scheduled to be held on August 15 at Raja Bhalindra Singh Sports Complex, Polo Ground, Patiala, to mark the 80th Independence Day of the country. SP (H) Vaibhav Chaudhary and ADC (G) Anuprita Johal were also present during the rehearsal.

Extending his greetings to the people on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district-level celebrations in Patiala are being organised on a grand scale this year. He appealed to the residents of the district to participate in the Independence Day celebrations at Polo Ground in large numbers.

Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that Punjab Cabinet Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy Development and Food Processing, S. Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, will unfurl the National Flag at the district-level function and address the people of the district.

During the full dress rehearsal, the parade, led by Parade Commander DSP Fateh Singh Brar, was presented by contingents of ITBP, District Police, Women Wing, Punjab Home Guards, NCC Army and Air Wings, St. John Ambulance Brigade of the Old Police Lines School, and Guide contingents of Senior Secondary Model School, Punjabi University. The Pipe Band contingent of the IRB of Punjab Police also participated in the parade. All contingents presented a ceremonial salute to the Tricolour.

Students presented a colourful cultural programme and also showcased their Gatka skills during the rehearsal. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Cabinet Minister will honour freedom fighters who made outstanding contributions to the country’s freedom struggle, along with their family members and successors. Personalities who have made commendable contributions in various fields will also be felicitated during the function.

Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that elaborate security arrangements have been put in place by the district police for the Independence Day function, with adequate police personnel deployed at the venue and other strategic locations. He added that security and surveillance have been further strengthened in view of the celebrations.

SP Vaibhav Chaudhary appealed to the public to remain vigilant and not touch any unattended or suspicious object. He urged citizens to immediately inform the nearest police station, police post, naka or PCR team about any suspicious object or person. Such information can also be provided on the police helpline number 112.

Municipal Commissioner Pooja Syal, ADC (RD) Damanjit Singh Mann, ADC (G) Anuprita Johal, SPs Palwinder Singh Cheema and Sukh Amrit Singh Randhawa, SDM, DRO, Civil Surgeon, and officers and employees of various departments were also present on the occasion.
