The book ‘Vaitrani’ by Surkhab, a school student from Ludhiana district, won
The Surjit Patar Student Award, established by the Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann in the memory of the late poet Padma Shri Surjit Patar, has been announced by the Language Department of Punjab today. Director Languages, S. Jaswant Singh Zafar said that the book ‘Vaitrani’ by Surkhab, a school student from Ludhiana district, has been selected for the first Surjit Patar Student Award. He said that for this award, books of all genres of literature were requested from the student writers, but this time only all the books were related to poetry. Which were evaluated by three evaluators nominated by the department. Under which the poetry book ‘Vaitrani’ by Surkhab, born in Ghudhani Kalan (Ludhiana), was declared the best. This award will be presented to Surkhab by the Language Department during the inaugural function of the Punjabi month in November. Which will include a cash prize of one lakh rupees, departmental doshala and plaque.
S. Zafar said that while this book is to connect the new generation with literature and encourage student writers. From the hard work and creation process of the author of this time’s award-winning book, it can be easily guessed that how conscious our future generation is towards literary creation. He congratulated Surkhab and congratulated his parents and teachers.
